I’m a non-native English speaker, can I enrol?

Our course is also suitable for non-native English speakers, provided they are fluent in English.

2

Is there any age limit on who can enrol?

The course is aimed at anyone, therefore there are no age restrictions.

3

What level do I need to be to take the course?

The course has been created for those with a limited knowledge of English grammar, and therefore works through the basics before moving on to more complex grammatical elements. You do not need a previous knowledge of grammar to be able to take the course.

4

How long will the course take to complete?

The course equates to around 30 hours, but as you can work at your own pace the timescale for completion will really depend on how much time you choose to devote to it, and how rapidly you grasp the topics. You are allowed three months to complete your course, after which you have the option of purchasing an extension which is detailed below.

5

What happens if I run out of time?

You are allowed up to three months to work through the course, which should be plenty of time for you to successfully complete it. If you do require additional time, you can top-up your allowance for 2 weeks at £10, or a month for £15. Once your time has expired, you will still be able to log in and view your dashboard, but you will not be able to progress with the course until you have purchased your top up.

6

How does the course work?

You will work through the course at your own pace, beginning with the Introduction, then moving through Levels 1, 2 and 3 with frequent mini tasks and a multiple choice assessment at the end of each level to reinforce your understanding. You will then have a final assessment at the end of the course to recap everything you have learnt.

7

Is the course easy to follow?

The grammar course is designed to be self-explanatory, so you will find easy step-by-step instructions to guide you through each section of the course. When you log-in to your course, you will find yourself at the dashboard, where you can view and purchase products and track your progress through to completion.

8

What happens if I get stuck?

The course topics are explained clearly throughout the course, with various examples to show each element of grammar in use. If you get stuck, you can refer back to the grammar factsheet which is available for download from the dashboard. Alternatively, you can also buy the A-Z of English Grammar book for some extra help with the key topics. We recommend that you ensure you have understood each topic before progressing onto the next.

9

Will the assessments be difficult?

The assessments are multiple choice and are designed to revise what you have learnt to ensure you have fully understood it all. The course is designed to challenge you but there are no trick questions, as the aim is to help you learn rather than catch you out! You will find that the questions are based on the course content you have covered, so the answers are all within the course somewhere!

10

What happens if I fail a level?

The Introduction, Level 1, 2 and 3 assessments can all be taken as many times as you like, so don’t worry. When you click the button to mark your test, if you haven’t passed you can always return to the start of the section and have another go. The final assessment can only be taken up to three times, so it is advisable to ensure you have fully grasped all three levels before progressing onto it.

11

What is the final mark based on?

The course is marked out of 100, and is comprised of the 4 assessments, plus the final assessment. The marks breakdown is as follows: Intro: 10 Level 1: 20 Level 2: 20 Level 3: 20 Final Test: 30 Total: 100

12

Can I try to improve my mark?

On the assessments for the Introduction and Levels 1, 2 and 3 your best score will be logged, so you can attempt the assessments more than once if you want to try to increase your mark. For the final assessment, you have three attempts to pass. As with the previous assessments, your best mark will be the one that is counted.

13

What happens if I fail the final assessment?

If you do not pass the final assessment within the three attempts, you have the option of extending your allowance by another three attempts for just £20. If you choose this option, the entire course will reset and you can attempt the full course again.
